Process

Website Goals — Phase One:

  • The web development process begins with a discussion between the client and the web designer about the website’s goals, functionality, and overall design. This discussion can take place by phone or email, depending on the client’s preference.
  • Next, the web designer assesses the client’s needs and creates a website mockup of the homepage for the client to review online. This initial design phase typically takes one week or less. If the client has a logo, they should provide it in an electronic format (JPG, GIF, PNG, EPS, PDF, PSD, etc.) at this stage.
  • The client then reviews the design and provides feedback on any necessary revisions. Once adjustments are made, the revised design is submitted for approval.

Web Development Preview — Phase Two:

  • After approval, the website design moves to web format and is posted on a temporary domain for the client to view online.
  • If the client needs a domain name or hosting plan, the web designer assists with domain registration, hosting selection, and email configuration.

Adding Content — Phase Three:

  • The client provides website content in an electronic format, such as an MS Word document or another text file. Any additional graphics should also be submitted at this time. If needed, the web designer can supply stock images at no extra cost.
  • Once the content is received, the web designer places it on the appropriate website pages, ensuring a visually appealing and well-organized layout. The design process prioritizes ease of navigation while maintaining a professional appearance.

Website Launch — Final Phase:

  • The client reviews the fully populated website and requests any final revisions. The web designer makes these adjustments and prepares the site for launch.
  • Once finalized, the website is transferred to the client’s web host, and the domain is properly configured if not already set up.
  • After the site goes live, the client retains full access. If ongoing support is needed, the web designer offers maintenance services either at a monthly rate or an hourly fee.
